Official Tourist Guides in The Gambia

This ILM Innovation Guide development programme is offered by TDI International as part of the "Inspiration for Innovation in The Gambia" (IFIG) project to develop services for tourists.

Members of the Management Team of the Official Tourist Guides in The Gambia, which included 3 members of their executive committee, completed their Innovation Guide development programme on Tuesday 16th February 2010.

The 2 day course was run at the Golden Beach Hotel, Bijilo, The Gambia www.goldenbeachhotel.gm .

John Conteh,  IT Support Manager for TDI International in The Gambia, presented for the second half of the programme on Monday afternoon and gave an excellent guide to the TDI website and access to the e-learning programme for the ILM Innovation Guide Development Programme.  John gives technical support related to access to the e-learning programme for all candiates in The Gambia.

Other participants on this 2 day programme were Amet, a footballer from 1st Division Brikama United, Abu from Golden Beach Hotel and Buba Bah who has participated in the national TDI International Innovation Internship for the Gambia since December 2008 with valuable support from senior managment at the Kairaba Hotel www.kairabahotel.gm .

The course ended with each member of the course giving feedback to the group about  their learning expereince.  Alieu, Secretary General of The Official Tourist Guides, made it clear in his feedback that the course had been very valuable as a source of inspiration to assist the development of services to Tourists. 

The Certificates of Professional Development were presented on Tuesday evening 22nd February at the Official Tourist Guide meeting place. The next step will be  the presentation of TICA awards as each guide contributes their ideas to ensure the best possible service to tourists to this wonderful holiday destination.
