Case Study 1
“How can I encourage all my team to put forward their ideas to improve the service we offer our guests?” (Anton Good President Swiss Inn Hotels 2005)
The Swiss Inn Golden Beach Resort, Dahab, Egypt, now has its answer to this question as a result of full participation in the TIC Award programme.
Swiss Inn Golden Beach Resort is set on a beautiful beach beside the Red Sea in Dahab, Egypt. All members of staff provide an excellent service to their guests but Anton Good , President of Swiss inn Hotels, is aware of the high level of competition internationally and her asked me “How can I encourage all my team to put forward their ideas to improve the service we offer our customers?”
Ideas from both managers and staff have been successfully implemented. Swiss Inn Dahab has now achieved 9 Innovation Guide Awards and 7 Innovator Awards and has achieved the Innovation Centre Award. Results included saving money, wider range of activities for guests and increased income from additional opportunities for customers.
The presentation of the Innovation Centre Award was made in March 2006.
Fabrice Loetscher, the General Manger, is now leading a series of very large innovation projects. During his visit in June 2007 Terry was impressed with the completely refurbished Dinning Room. Now Fabrice and his staff are embarking on the renovation of the whole reception area - which will be a huge project. Watch the 'News' on this website to hear of progress with this project.

Case Study 2
RSDS - Red Sea Diving Safari - 3 Eco Villages for Divers - Marsa Alam, Egypt
"Each Village is a unique divers paradise - dive when you want with your buddy from a dive shed on the beach"
Hosam Helmy started the unique eco villages 20 years ago. The 3 Dive Villages at Shagra, Nakari and Wadi Lahami focus on conservation of the environment and the beautiful reefs in particular. General Manager, Hesham Mustafa, ensures that the whole opperation provides a unique expereince for the diver.
Divers enjoy independent diving with their buddy from the dive shed, which is on the beach, zodiac trips to local reefs - including Elphinstone and Dolphin House - and extensive truck diving to shore dive sites.
Rafik Farouk, village manger at Shagra, is the co-ordinator for the Innovation Challenge Award project for RSDS. From December 2006 he has worked with staff at all levels and departments to ensure that their ideas are identified, developed and implemented to ensure the best possible expereince for all guests at RSDS.
The Innovation Challenge Award programme started with an awareness week in December 2006 and then managers and team leaders took part in the Innovation Guide Foundation Programme in February 2007. 10 Innovation Guide Certificates have been awarded.
These Innovation Guides have helped Innovators to develop and implement their ideas and as a result 14 Innovator Awards have been presented.
The result of this hard work was the achievement of the Innovation Centre Award in February 2007. Terry, in consultation with Hesham, is carrying out 3 support visits during 2007 to assist Rafik in the development of the 'culture of the growth of ideas'.

Case Study 3
Reef 2000 - Bedouin Moon Hotel - Dahab, Sinai, Egypt
Reef 2000 Dive Club and the Bedouin Moon Hotel are located to the North of Dahab with beautiful views accross the Gulf of Aqaba to the front and the mountains of the Sinai to the rear. Divers who stay here have access to some of the finest shore diving in the world.
On 12th January 2007 David Elgin signed the 'Declaration of Committment' to demonstrate to his staff that the whole team was comitted to implementing the Innovation Challenge Awards Programme (TICA).
Team leaders and key members of staff then attended the Innovation Guide Foundation Course during the second week in January. By the end of January seven ideas had already been registered, supported by Innovation Guides and implemented. As an Innovation is an idea that is successfully implemented TICA programme was already a success - see Testimonial in about TDI.
On 3rd July 2007 Terry, TICA Course Director from TDI, presented David with the Innovation Centre Award. David then presented Innovator and Innovation Guide Awards to members of his staff - a very happy occasion which can be viewed in the gallery.
Guests now benefit from over 12 Innovations which have improved services, added to the beautiful environment and enabled staff to be recognised in a special way for the contribution they have made.
This case study shows that smaller organisations can derive significant and valuable benefit from taking part in TICA. The Challenge Programme is, however, more than a few months increased activity. The challenge is to continue to stimulate 'A Culture for the Growth of Ideas'. The driving force behind TICA programme for the next 6 months of the 12 month programme is Jojo the new Manager at Bedouin Moon Hotel - Good luck Jojo!
